Zone(s): Russia ¦ Sector(s): Taxation
[26 June 2014, Tax-News.com] By Tatiana Smolenska, Tax- News.com, Moscow: Russia’s President, Vladimir Putin, has signalled his approval of a plan that will allow tax delinquents to avoid prosecution if they agree to pay what they owe. Putin was told about the idea during a meeting with Mikhail Mishustin, who heads the Russian Federal Tax Service. The President asked Mishustin about a move to allow the Investigative Committee – a law enforcement agency created in 2007 – to investigate tax cases independently of the Tax Service, observing that taxpayers had raised concerns about possible abuses.
