Indonesian convenience chain heading to the Philippines

[26 June 2014, Nikkei Asian Review] By Wataru Suzuki, Nikkei staff writer, Jakarta: Sumber Alfaria Trijaya, a big Indonesian convenience store operator, plans to push into the Philippines.After its annual shareholder’s meeting on Wednesday, President Anggara Prawira told reporters that Sumber Alfaria will open its first distribution center in the Philippines during the third quarter of this year, followed by around 20 convenience stores by year-end. The network will be run by a joint venture. Sumber Alfaria holds a 35% stake in the venture. Prawira declined to name the Filipino partner.
