[4 June 2014, ICAEW]  By Ellie Clayton: The European commission has described the UK council tax system as “regressive” and urged the government to increase taxes on high value homes.

In its country specific recommendations, released on 3 June, the commission urged the UK to take more action to address the imbalance between supply and demand of housing, particularly in London and the South East.
