Camp says restoration of TPA Crucial
Zone(s): USA, Global ¦ Sector(s): Taxation, Trade
[24 June 2014, Tax-News.com] By Mike Godfrey, Tax-News.com, Washington, USA: In recent remarks to the Global Business Dialogue on the future of the United States’ trade agenda, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, Dave Camp (R – Michigan), stressed the importance of the role that the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) can play in the negotiation of trade agreements.
He called the TPA “the key that ensures the US unlocks our full potential as we negotiate trade agreements. We are in the midst of three major trade negotiations – the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP), the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership, and the Trade in Services Agreement. However, we will be unable to realize the significant economic boost these agreements can give the United States unless [the] TPA is in place.”
